Jim Sammons is a Professional Scrum Trainer and an active Agile consultant with 25+ years of experience in the US tech industry.
He currently spends most of his time working with leaders and teams in an Agile transformation for Fortune 100 energy companies. Next to that, Jim also teaches Scrum and Kanban classes for Scrum.org and Xebia Academy.
His work takes Jim all over the world, where he gets to meet engaging and passionate people each step of the way. These people make him better at what he does which is why he hopes he can help them solve challenges in return. Whether big or small, from global financial services firms to small startups and everything in between, he just loves helping organizations.
People, not resources, are the key to success, is what Jim believes, and also that if we take care of people, they will change the world. It’s with this in mind that he feels he has found his calling in the Agile mindset and servant leadership. Consequently, Jim brings his passion for agility to each of his training classes, workshops, and conferences, in support of the Scrum community at large.
So, Jim’s passion is helping people do work that matters with intention, happiness, and impact. Throughout his career, the common focus I bring to each role is “making people better.” That can be achieved through mentorship, training, workshops, or just grabbing a coffee and lending an ear to their experiences.
In his spare time, Jim enjoys making things out of wood, metal, and other materials (like coffee). He also enjoys hiking, board games, jigsaw puzzles, and you can find him often listening to an audiobook or podcast.
