- Determine the right chart type to use
- Decluttering: remove elements that take up space but don’t increase understanding
- Focus the attention of the audience on the relevant parts of the visualisation using pre-attentive attributes and informative titles
- Hackathon: Improve a visualisation of your own and getting feedback from the instructor
- Why and how data storytelling works
- Create a data story using the data story model: set the scene, construct the build-up, share the main insight and empower your audience
- Use analogies to make difficult concepts easier to digest
- Get feedback from other participants and the instructor during each part of the development process
- Present your data story to the group
This training is for you if:
You work with data and often need to share findings with other colleagues
You can already make simple visualizations using a tool of your choice (e.g Excel, Tableau, Power BI, Python etc.)
You want to improve your visualizations so they help your audience understand the message.
You want to master storytelling techniques to keep your audience engaged and ready to act
This training is not for you if:
You want to learn how to do make better dynamic dashboards.
You don’t have data insights you want to share with others.
You want to learn how to explore data with Python (check out our Python for Data Analysis training instead)
You want to learn how to build a dashboard in Power BI (check out our Power BI in a Day training instead)
