Welcome to the Open Source at GoDataDriven, Augustus 2018 edition, otherwise called the Fokko
edition.
Yes, because Fokko is the unquestioned protagonist of this edition. Some of us, including me,
were in places were coding was harder than usual 🙂
But let’s get to it! Fokko started by contributing to Stocator, a high performing connector to
object storage for Apache Spark, with PR 198 and 199
Then, continuing with the Spark stream of contributions, he committed PR 22007 to Spark self, and
PR 368 to the Azure connector for Event Hub.
Then there was some work to a project supporting metrics for 22, and to
a project supporting Kamon integrations for metrics coming from Akka http apps with PR 43.
Of course Divolte and Airflow received some love as well with, respectively:
Lastly he contributed PR 2 and 3 to minicluster, a project by his friend Bolke de Bruin to
run HDFS and Hive in Docker containers for testing purposes.
That’s it for this edition! If you, like many others, are searching for you next challenge after
the summer, don’t forget we’re hiring! (Especially software and data engineers!).
