The Road to Mastery - a Scrum learning journey

If you'd like to boost your knowledge and learn how to put that into practice – as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach – the Road 2 Mastery will help you bridge that gap. Are you ready for the Road?

Bring Scrum Values to life

The learning journey consists of:

  • Multiple training days with trainer-led sessions, self-study tracks, and intervisions.
  • A physical 4-D training experience with multi-sensory learning in Hilversum, the Netherlands, or a virtual online experience through Zoom and Miro.
  • Improving your day-to-day practice in coaching, facilitation, and leadership;
  • Gaining access to over 500 virtual activities, plays, and templates;
  • 12 digital training books;
  • Becoming part of a close-knit CoP of experienced practitioners committed to supporting each other.

There is no truer validation of distinguished Scrum experience than by going on a learning journey with other experienced practitioners.

True experience

Most certifications show that you have studied, but not that you have experienced. The Road 2 Mastery helps you bridge that knowledge gap through hands-on practice. Although R2M provides breadth and depth unlike any course available in Scrum or Agile, it is the communication, collaboration, and sharing of experiences that really make it special.

This training is perfect for...

Although our 2-day Professional Scrum Master I and Professional Scrum Master II training courses are also extremely valuable, they might not make you a Scrum Master or Agile coach right away. You'll need to learn, fail and learn again in practice. Only then, you'll see where the actual bottlenecks are within your team(s), your organization, and yourself.

This journey is for anyone who'd like to take those exact use cases, where we take a deep dive into these hurdles during the Road 2 Mastery. This training is for anyone who wants to have a bigger impact within an agile organization. Scrum Masters, Agile/Scrum Coaches, Managers, Leadership, and Consultants looking to improve their use of Scrum. Or anyone involved in Product Delivery using Scrum.

Prior knowledge, experience, or certificate required:

At least one or more years of experience working as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or Agile Consultant. Or a couple of years working in an Agile environment. You must currently work in a Scrum or Agile environment.

Journey participants have after completing Road to Mastery:

  • Started their own community of practice.
  • Enriched their training curriculum.
  • Expanded their coaching playbook.
  • Enhanced their soft skills by practicing coaching and facilitation in a safe setting.
  • Created a strong 'basecamp' for Scrum within their organization.
  • Receives guidance to become certified in PSM II or PSM III (assessment and certification is not included in this course).
  • Receives guidance to become a Scrum Trainer.
  • Gained more leadership support for Scrum.
  • Expanded their network with experienced worldwide professionals.
  • Lived the Scrum Values.

Distinguished Guides

The trainers are referred to as guides. They are Scrum.org distinguished and certified professional trainers. What's more, they have extensive, hands-on experience in their field. And building on that expertise, they're thought leaders and community leaders in the largest global Scrum communities.

Evelien Roos and Sjoerd Nijland will be your trainers for the entire learning journey. Evelien is a Professional Scrum Trainer for Scrum.org and a full-time trainer and knowledge sharer at Xebia Academy. Besides that, she's also a certified trainer in Training From the Back of the Room (TBR) and has been actively involved in creating Training from the Back of the Room Virtual Edition (TBR-VE) – together with Sharon Bowman.

Sjoerd Nijland is the founder of Serious Scrum and creator of the Road 2 Mastery curriculum. While now focused on the marvels of Scrum and Agile, Sjoerd has broad experience in the world of E-commerce.

The guides always create a very warm and safe environment while fully supporting, coaching, and challenging you along the way. You'll be actively coached in your day-to-day challenges, getting support from other experienced professionals too.

Experienced Professional Peers

You'll learn a lot from your guides, but possibly even more from your peers. Participants who already walked the road came from companies such as:

Let's go on an adventure!

Take a deep breath! because you're in for quite a virtual ride, hike, fly, bike, dive, and climb!

After registering for the training, you will receive a confirmation email with practical information.

The R2M has helped many practitioners achieve their personal goals of passing the PSM III assessment, becoming a Scrum Trainer, and establishing themselves as true leaders, mentors, and coaches. During the journey, many close professional relationships are developed.

But hey, don't just take our word for it; read the testimonials below from those who experienced it.

See you soon!

I've been working in Agile and Scrum for over 16 years and this is the best investment I have made. It beats any other training, workshop, collaboration, or community formal or informal. Sjoerd himself is an excellent guide, hitting the right note in balancing, training, guiding, coaching, and facilitating. The material is exactly what I've been looking for to help me grow." - Stuart, UK

"This global community of practice is such a treat. The course brings together threads of facilitation, agile culture, and scrum principles with best practices from a range of disciplines in co-active learning formats that are accessible and applicable across a range of environments. I love the way the course is framed as an adventure. It brings me joy in my practice." - Vailshali, USA
