Xebia and Data Expo Release 6th Edition of the Data & AI Monitor

Atlanta, August 22, 2025 — Xebia, in collaboration with Data Expo, has released the sixth edition of the Data & AI Monitor (previously the Data Survey), a flagship market research report that pulls back the curtain of the hype surrounding artificial intelligence. Built on insights from survey responses from over 500 frontline professionals, the report delivers an in-depth view into how organizations today are working with data and AI, where the momentum is, what the major hurdles are, and how leaders are navigating complexity at scale.

Unlike speculative whitepapers or future-gazing trend decks, this study clearly and concisely identifies what companies and industries are actually doing with AI. The 2025 edition reflects responses from key decision-makers and practitioners across Central Europe, the United States, the Middle East, and Africa. Sectors represented include finance, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, media, and public services. Participants range from C-level executives to data scientists, architects, and product managers, those closest to execution.

The results paint a picture of a field caught in transition. While most organizations report adopting an AI vision, only 24% believe they are truly extracting value from their AI initiatives. This implementation gap highlights the growing pressure to translate potential into performance. While enthusiasm for tools like AI copilots and generative agents is strong, adoption is still in its infancy. Many firms still rely heavily on dashboards, with limited automation and fragmented infrastructure.

Trust in AI remains a major obstacle. Most respondents say that without a “human in the loop”, AI outputs still cannot be fully trusted. Even where predictive models are in place, maturity is uneven, and integration with core business workflows often lags. Furthermore, cloud strategy has come under scrutiny: 72% of respondents strongly feel the dependency on external vendors. While Microsoft Azure leads the pack among cloud platforms, with AWS and Google Cloud close behind, only about half of those respondents feel truly comfortable with that reliance.

This reliance on cloud platforms also sparks a notable geopolitical divide: 80% of respondents believe American tech giants have too much influence, and an overwhelming 87% call for Europe to build a stronger, more independent front. Regarding regulation, such as the AI Act, opinions are mixed, with 53% expressing concern that such policies could hinder innovation, reflecting tension between oversight and agility.

Ultimately, the Data & AI Monitor goes beyond a simple report, delivering a crucial benchmark of AI readiness across industries. It highlights what’s working and what’s stalling, and provides the insights leaders need to move from experimentation to scalable, governed, and business-aligned AI systems.
