This page tells you all about STAP funding and the application process.
The STAP budget is a training budget provided by the Dutch government. It has been officially introduced on March 1, 2022, and is intended to benefit every working person and job seeker, in any sector, looking for additional training or re-education. With a STAP grant, you can receive up to €1,000 for a training course taken to retrain or upskill yourself.
Although in general all Dutch citizens are eligible for the STAP budget, there are a few key criteria that must be met to receive the funding:
The first application period for grants within the STAP budget starts on March 1, 2022, and ends on April 30. There are 5 application periods per year. If the budget (€32 million for each application period) is depleted, you can no longer receive a grant. So, be quick, or you'll have to wait for the next application period.
Applying for the STAP budget is simple. At the bottom of this page, you can register for the training course of your choice. Upon that, we will send you the STAP proof of registration. With this, you can apply online for the STAP grant with UWV. Upon approval, UWV will pay for your course. Does your course cost more than €1,000? Then you'll have to pay the remainder yourself (or your employer).
Bear in mind that to retain your right to the STAP budget, you must have demonstrably completed the course. If this is not the case, the UWV may decide to reclaim the funding from you.
The process for applying for a STAP grant is as follows:
