Who is eligible for the STAP budget?

Although almost all EU inhabitants of the Netherlands are eligible for the STAP budget, you'll have to meet a few key criteria to receive the funding:

  • You are a (partner of a) EU citizen and/or resident in the Netherlands between the ages of 18 and 67 years (i.e. not retired yet) and you've got a BSN number.
  • You’ve worked, lived, or received social insurance for at least 6 months since March 2020.
  • At the time of application, you do not receive any student grants, teacher grants, or school cost allowances for adults.
  • The start date of your course is at least 4 weeks after the submission of your application and a maximum of 3 months after the expiry of the application period.
  • You have not previously been awarded the STAP grant this year (you are entitled to a maximum of one STAP grant for one course per calendar year).
  • The training course of your choice must be included in the STAP training register (all Xebia Academy courses are).

The STAP process

The process for applying for a STAP grant at Xebia Academy is as follows:

  • STEP 1 - Check the STAP conditions
Make sure you've checked all the conditions and verify that you're indeed eligible for the STAP budget.

  • STEP 2 - Choose your training course
Once you have selected the training course of your choice, register for it by filling out the form below. You will then be preregistered. At the start of the STAP application period, we will send you a reminder to apply for your funding.

  • STEP 3 - Request STAP registration certificate
We validate your registration and send you our Xebia Academy STAP proof of registration. You will need that for your STAP application with UWV. Please check your spam folder for our registration certificate!

  • STEP 4 - Submit application (UWV STAP portal)
Submit your STAP registration certificate on UWV's STAP portal as soon as the application period starts. For logging on to the portal, a DigiD is required. UWV will inform you when your STAP grant has been approved.
