The Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC) Breakfast set the stage for a vibrant day of discussions and networking, emphasizing the deep economic ties between Georgia and the Netherlands. Held on June 10th in Atlanta, the event drew esteemed guests, including King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, Governor Brian Kemp, and leading business executives in the region.
The breakfast kicked off with a dynamic overview of the economic and political landscape of Metro Atlanta, presented by John Woodward, Vice President of Global Commerce at MAC, and Chief Economist Dr. Jerry Parish, who provided valuable insights into the economic outlook for the U.S. Southeast.
Atlanta remains abundant in community, arts, culture, and business growth as a hub for growing Fortune 500 companies across industries including The Home Depot, United Parcel Service (UPS), Delta Air Lines, The Coca-Cola Company and Norfolk Southern, and many flourishing startups.
The supreme quality of life in Atlanta is affirmed by the high number of students who choose to start their professional career in the city after attending a Georgia college or university. Notably, the city is recognized for its green space and holds the record for the Largest urban tree canopy in the U.S. at nearly 50%.
According to guest speaker and Chief Economist Jerry Parish, Georgia employment is at an all-time high. The state has seen a 6% jump in job growth—nearly double the national average.
Following the breakfast, the delegation moved to the Georgia State Capitol, where they were greeted by Governor Kemp and First Lady, Kathy Kemp. The highlight of the Capitol session was a series of pitches from Dutch companies showcasing their investments in Georgia. Anand Sahay, CEO of Xebia, presented Xebia’s growth and future investments in the state, emphasizing the company's commitment to innovation and digital transformation.

Sahay, in a conversation with Governor Kemp, reiterated Xebia’s ties to both Atlanta and the Netherlands.
“Xebia, established in the Netherlands 21 years ago, proudly opened its new headquarters in Atlanta this January in the Buckhead area. We are looking forward to bringing software technology and consulting jobs to Georgia,” Sahay said.

Moderated by experts from TKI Dinalog and Georgia Tech, the discussion highlighted the importance of robust logistics and transportation networks in maintaining economic stability and growth. The roundtable was followed by a tour of the NewCold facility, showcasing the latest advancements in cold storage technology.
The day's activities culminated in a reception at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, where attendees engaged with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. The reception celebrated the strong economic and cultural ties between the Netherlands and Georgia, providing a fitting end to a day rich in collaboration and innovation.
