Does this sound like you?
You are an engineer with a pragmatic attitude. You feel the weight of responsibility that comes with taking systems into production. You easily switch between scripting and structured programming in typed languages. You understand cloud, provisioning, and automation and are eager to learn more and build robust systems next to our experienced team!
How you will help to create value with Data & AI
At Xebia Data we build strong Data & AI practices to deliver value to our clients and their customers. In the past our team of data professionals has predicted the daily demand for millions of loaves of bread, built advanced energy-saving algorithms to nationwide scale, and set up data innovaton labs at large multinational corporations. We enjoy great success in making top companies AI-driven — just think of what more we can achieve when YOU join our team!
As a data engineer, you are responsible for the implementation of the foundations of data-intensive systems. You develop enabling infrastructure to store, transform and process data at scale and in the cloud. You make sure that data is stored safely and securely using the technology that you see fit for the job.
This program is designed for people with professional experience in data or related technical fields, particularly those familiar with modern tech stacks in data and/or software development. Over one month, you’ll dive into the essential tech fundamentals in data and start your journey as a consultant for our clients in your second month. You’ll have our experienced team by your side to support you the whole way!
What is like to be a consultant at Xebia Data
With your knowledge of software engineering, cloud, clusters, queues, containers, streaming, or graphs you work on the backbone of the data infrastructure. There is lots of data to store, many jobs to run and schedule, much configuration to be dealt with. You work at the client in teams that are a mix of people from Xebia and the client and pick up the work that is related to that backbone on which the team is building.
As a consultant at Xebia Data, you will have projects of varying lengths. Some are 2 weeks, some are 1 year, most are in between. Every project is different, as is every client. We, however, always deliver the best quality possible. It is not always easy, but it is always rewarding. You will be exposed to different companies, problems, systems and solutions. You will be surrounded by experts in different fields, and you will learn so many new things in a short time. Here you will have the perfect environment to shine as a data professional.
When you’re working on-site with a client you may come across something that is really difficult to solve. We’ve got your back as we at Xebia work as a team and will help you solve your problems, because everybody at Xebia is just a quick message away and ready to help at any time.
Who Are We Looking For?
This Data Engineer position plays a central role in our clients’ teams, and therefore, we require around two years of relevant professional experience in the field of data engineering or/and software engineering. Having said that, we like to be amazed, so if you have done something outstanding during your studies, like contributing to open-source projects or starting your own company, we encourage you to apply. Alongside this, we’re seeking colleagues with a genuine curiosity and a passion for what we do, as these qualities are at the heart of our team’s mindset. Our ideal candidates are those who embrace this philosophy and love for data!
The Cross-Skilling program is designed for candidates with experience in data engineering or software engineering who are eager to enhance their technical skills and focus on data. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues and take your career to the next level!
Please note that this program is not suitable for those without at least two years of hands-on experience in data, software engineering, or a related field like DevOps engineering. The program kicks off in September 2025 with a month of training led by our team, aimed to level up your technical skills. After that, you’ll dive right into client projects with the support of the Xebia Data team!
If you already have ample experience in data engineering, consider our regular data engineering role.
