When you are in a Google Chat Space with many people, messages sometimes fly all around you. If you want to react to an earlier sent message, until now it wasn’t very easy to keep the flow in the conversation. But again, Google added a great new feature to help us all!
To respond to an earlier message, you can now simply quote it. Like in Whatsapp. In that way, you keep the right context in your own message and everyone knows exactly what you are talking about.
Select a chat message you’d like to include in your own message, then click ‘Quote in reply’. You can do this in 1-on-1 chats and group conversations, as well as in chat rooms that include inline threading.
However, if you don’t feel like writing an entire message as a reply, you can also just leave a quick reaction using an emoji. The menu that appears when you hover over a chat message now also includes your most used emojis. If you want to vary your emojis, you can still click to see all available emojis.
At Xebia, we 💜 using emojis to react to internal messages. What do you prefer: written reply, or an emoji?
