The Client
Orbia’s Building and Infrastructure business, Wavin, is an innovative solutions provider for the global building and infrastructure industry. Backed by more than 60 years of product development experience, Wavin is advancing life around the world by building healthy, sustainable environments. Wavin is a water-focused innovator delivering solutions for safer drinking water supply, sanitation, and urban water resilience, as well as indoor climate solutions.
The Challenge: Legacy Platform Modernization to Drive Business Growth
Wavin’s legacy climate control platform was no longer fit for purpose. Its monolithic structure restricted scalability, delayed innovation, and could not meet modern security benchmarks. The absence of real-time data and analytics limited visibility into system behaviour and blocked the path to new service revenues. A strategic overhaul was required to enable growth, enhance customer experience, and establish a future-ready digital foundation.
The Solution: A Unified Connected Device Ecosystem Powered by Google Cloud
Xebia was selected as Wavin’s strategic partner to develop a cutting-edge platform that could keep up with business needs and enhance customer value. The Xebia team led the complete rebuild of Wavin’s indoor climate platform—Wavin iConnect—from the ground up and created a serverless cloud backend on Google Cloud, and launched a fully responsive, real-time mobile app. Features such as real-time control, simpler firmware updates, and installer support tools were prioritized to deliver maximum value for Wavin and its customers. Xebia’s hybrid team across the Netherlands and Poland worked closely with Wavin to ensure efficiency, embedding engineering excellence, agile collaboration, and platform resilience throughout the lifecycle.
The Result: Future-Ready Platform Built for Scale
- Rapid and smooth migration: 10,000+ connected devices migrated.
- Modern UX: New real-time app enhancing home-owner and HVAC installer interactions.
- Efficiency gains: Reducing service time and cost with remote configuration and diagnostics.
- Scalable platform: Ready for predictive maintenance, smart scheduling, and future AI use cases.
- Strategic enablement: A foundation that empowers Wavin to expand its climate solutions, accelerate digital service delivery, and drive innovation across the smart building ecosystem.
"Xebia’s contribution went beyond code —they built a platform that scales securely, supports commercial growth, and unlocks new service opportunities for our climate control business. Their close collaboration with Wavin’s product teams and technical depth enabled us to realise the full potential of Wavin iConnect on Google Cloud."
