How NIBC Bank Modernized Master Data Management with Xebia

Xebia managed to select and implement the solution, adhering to both the business and technical requirements within less than a year.
The Challenge: replacing legacy complexity
NIBC Bank needed a partner they could work with, who would lead them from selection to implementation, quickly and effectively.
These were the main challenges in the project:
- Old legacy system: the previous Microsoft MDS system had to be replaced quickly as it was reaching end of support and had become difficult to change and update.
- Business requirement: the data had to be kept structurally intact during migration, any changes would cause problems to the systems accessing it.
- Backwards engineering: since the legacy system was over a decade old, there was limited expertise at hand.
The Solution: End-to-end MDM modernization
Phase 1: Assessment and RFP Leadership
Xebia began with a structured Request for Proposal (RFP) process in Q4 2024, working closely with NIBC to define requirements, evaluate vendors, and ultimately choose Profisee as the modern, cloud-native master data management (MDM) solution that would best meet their needs. This is a platform that uses the latest integration technologies, delivering secure and efficient master data management functionalities.
Phase 2: End-to-End Implementation
Over the following year, we led NIBC bank through a full implementation lifecycle, from architecture design and data migration to integration, matching rule configuration, and user enablement. This process was performed with implementation partner Astral Forest, who followed closely that all data records were migrated, with new relationship types added (as per compliance rules), while improving change implementation time.
Phase 3: Successful Go-Live and Transition
By End of November, 2025, ten months after starting selecting the new solution, the new MDM platform was live, replacing not only the previous Microsoft MDS solution, but also decommissioning a web of legacy components including BizTalk interfaces, legacy databases, SSIS packages, and MDS SQL servers.
The Result: a modern and structured system
In just over 10 months, Xebia managed to deliver a modern environment, using the latest integration technologies, secure and well managed. The solution completely substitutes the previous system, while making new enhancements and keeping the previous data structure intact:
- Intelligent matching & survivorship: algorithm-based matching with configurable confidence thresholds and automated linking for 100% matches, manual review for 70-99% certainty.
- Enhanced data quality & governance: migration of over a 100k Party records and over 25k relationship records, along with additional quality improvements identified for post-go-live.
- Business enablement & compliance: new relationship types and data attributes supporting NIBC’s regulatory reporting requirements (e.g. Anacredit), plus compliant access management processes integrated with SailPoint, Azure Entra & IAM practices
Operational agility: dramatically reduced change implementation time. Changes in sources can be catered for in weeks instead of months, and new consumers can be services in days.
