The Challenge: “A great developer experience” 

Providing a great developer experience is a top priority for the client, who saw GitHub Copilot as a key opportunity. With thousands of developers across a large and complex environment, the challenge was not just providing access but ensuring secure, consistent, and meaningful usage. Recognizing the scale of this ambition, the company partnered with Xebia to lead its GitHub Copilot adoption journey. 

The Solution: “Xebia’s GitHub Copilot Adoption Framework” 

After consolidating multiple platforms onto GitHub Enterprise Cloud, Xebia turned to laying the groundwork for GitHub Copilot — beginning with onboarding DEPT® to its Managed Developer PlatforXebia customized its GitHub Copilot Adoption Framework for the client, rolling it out in two phases:  

  1. Kick-Off Phase: Initiated the program with a core group of pilot users. 
  1. Scaled & Continued Enablement: A rolling monthly program that trained and onboarded an enterprise-wide user base through ongoing cohorts and engagement. 

Each month, a new group of users received its GitHub Copilot license, which kicked off the enablement program, covering: 

  • Customized GitHub Fundamentals Training tailored to the client’s environment and onboarding processes. 
  • Hands-on Bootcamps and Labs for super-users to deepen practical skills. 
  • Advanced Skills Training, including Xebia’s Prompt Engineering course with live demos, to maximize GitHub Copilot’s potential. 
  • Community Engagement, featuring an active online forum in Microsoft Teams, Garage Sessions for interactive learning, and a weekly blog with tips, new features, and exclusive content. 

To support long-term adoption, Xebia created a comprehensive Best Practices Guide as a go-to reference for new users, alongside a metrics and assessment package focused on license usage, tool consumption, and developer satisfaction rather than raw code output.  

This combination of structured training, hands-on support, community engagement, and actionable resources ensured a smooth rollout, accelerated adoption, and laid the foundation for sustainable, long-term use of GitHub Copilot across the organization.
