Urban Forestry, Community Participation, and Customer Engagement Helped Xebia Meet Sustainability Goals in 2025

At Xebia, we have consistently invested in initiatives that help reduce our carbon footprint, restore ecological balance, and create healthier urban environments. Tree plantation has been a key part of this effort, not as a symbolic exercise, but as a deliberate way to counter pollution, support biodiversity, and reintroduce green cover into densely populated cities.
In 2025, we chose to extend this long-standing commitment. Alongside our existing sustainability programs, we linked our tree plantation efforts to the Annual Customer Satisfaction Survey (CSAT). For every response received, we planted a tree. The intent was simple: to widen participation in an effort we already believe in and to turn engagement into tangible environmental impact.
Urban Forestry as a Long-Term Choice
Xebia’s plantation initiatives follow a structured, science-backed urban forestry model. Unlike ad-hoc plantation drives, urban forests are designed for longevity and impact. They prioritize species diversity, canopy layering, soil regeneration, and long-term survivability.
The result is measurable environmental value: improved air quality, reduced urban heat, better water retention, and thriving micro-ecosystems that support birds, pollinators, and local biodiversity. Just as importantly, these initiatives reinforce a culture of environmental responsibility throughout our ecosystem and the communities in which we operate.
Expanding Green Cover in 2025
Pune | 500 Trees Planted
In Pune, Xebia planted 500 trees at Krishnaji Khanduji Dhule Vidyalaya, Manjari Budruk. The plantation included a diverse mix of native, fruit-bearing, flowering, medicinal, and culturally significant species such as Guava, Jamun, Pomegranate, Arjun, Pipal, Bargad, Rudraksh, and the Cannonball Tree.
Xebia employees were actively involved throughout the process, from planting saplings in pre-prepared pits to understanding spacing, orientation, and soil conditions that support long-term growth. The focus was not speed, but care, ensuring each tree had the right foundation to survive and thrive.
Gurgaon | 400 Trees Planted
In Gurgaon, 400 trees were planted at Government Senior Secondary School, Darbaripur, in collaboration with students and volunteers from Grow Billion Trees. Species including Kadam, Amla, Belpatra, Jamun, Guava, Shisham, Mahogany, and Arjun were selected for their resilience, medicinal value, and suitability for urban conditions.
The drive united employees, students, and community members by turning sustainability into a shared, hands-on experience and embedding environmental awareness across generations.
Impact Measured Beyond the Moment
- Total Trees Planted: 900
- Equivalent to the carbon footprint of 5-10 adults
- ~18 tons of CO2 per year, upon full maturity
- Carbon credit equivalent: ~18 credits annually
As these urban forests mature over the next three to five years, their impact will compound—strengthening carbon sequestration, improving microclimates, and supporting richer biodiversity.
Beyond carbon metrics, the initiative contributes to improved public health, reduced heat stress, stronger employee engagement, and increased environmental awareness within local communities. It has also encouraged schools and neighborhoods to explore similar greening efforts, extending impact beyond Xebia-led sites.
Strengthening ESG Commitments
Xebia’s urban forestry efforts align with several UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Climate Action (SDG 13). By investing in long-term urban greening, we are taking definite steps to offset our carbon footprint while improving climate resilience within the communities we serve. From an ESG perspective, this initiative represents a disciplined approach to value creation, where environmental responsibility is enriched by community participation.
Moving Forward Together
Tree plantation has always been part of how Xebia contributes beyond business outcomes. In 2025, we expanded that effort by inviting our customers to join us in our journey, as we believe that sustainability is not defined by a single campaign or milestone. It is characterized by consistency, accountability, and the willingness to act year after year. As we continue to build future-ready enterprises, we remain equally committed to helping build greener, more resilient cities for the long term.
