What will you learn?
As a Product Owner, you have learned the basics of Product Ownership. So, knowing that it’s all about maximizing value for your product, you’ll now learn how to discover your users’ challenges, run experiments, test hypotheses, and increase your chance of finding a solution that is fit for purpose.
Key takeaways
- Position your product to better fit your customers’ needs by understanding the market.
- Experiment deliberately by clarifying your assumptions and quantitatively testing them.
- Manage risk by validating sooner than later and maximizing the amount of work not done.
Program
During this one-day course, we’ll first introduce a simple case. This is the backbone for all the theory and practices that you will learn.
You will explore how to set up hypotheses for your target audiences. After that, get ready to dive into the topic of product discovery. Furthermore, you focus on finding out how to best empathize with your users and customers, really understanding their pains and gains.
All these learnings will be linked to Scrum, after which you will receive the right tools to get this started for your own context.
Who is it for?
This course is primarily aimed at Product Owners with a bit of experience with Scrum and looking to deepen their knowledge of product discovery.
Furthermore, the Scrum Discovery and Validation Skills course is also perfect for product teams in a broader sense, who would like to:
- Understand their customers better.
- Learn how to run experiments.
- Set up hypotheses.
Requirements
A basic understanding of Scrum and Product Management is beneficial but not required.
Preferably, you have followed the Professional Scrum Product Owner 1 (PSPO 1) (or similar) training.

Exam and Certification
After completing the Professional Product Discovery and Validation (PPDV) training course, you will receive an exam code from Scrum.org to obtain the PPDV certificate. This code is valid indefinitely, allowing you to take the exam online whenever you choose.
However, if you take the exam within 14 days of receiving the exam code, you will receive a new attempt for free in case you fail the exam. If you take the exam – and fail – after those 14 days, you will have to retake the exam at your own expense as those costs are not included in the training price.
If you pass the PPDV exam (score 85% or above), you will:
- Receive a Scrum.org Professional Product Discovery and Validation (PPDV) certificate for life.
- Become a lifelong member of the Scrum.org community.
