What will you learn?

After the training, you will be able to:

Clean and transform data using Power Query

Design and implement efficient, optimized data models

Create model calculations using DAX to derive meaningful insights from complex datasets

Day 1

Load data from different sources
Perform basic data cleaning steps

Design and implement efficient, optimized data models
What are fact and dimension tables, what is a star schema?
Determine the right cardinality and filter direction, set multiple active relationships
Creating your own date tables

Create model calculations using DAX
Create calculated columns and (quick) measures
Perform basic aggregations on data, such as the sum, average or min.
Use iterator formulas in DAX such as FILTER, SUMX, and AVERAGEX
Use CALCULATE to modify the filter context of a calculation, and to dynamically create more complex calculations based on user-defined conditions
Create virtual relationships between tables using formulas such as CROSSFILTER, RELATED and USERELATIONSHIP

Day 2

Design and implement efficient, optimized data models
Why you should optimize your model’s performance
Strategies to optimize the performance

Enhance reports for usability and storytelling
Best practices when formatting visual elements
Create slicers and filters to allow users to reduce the data displayed in their reports
Create bookmarks to capture the state of a report page to e.g. create a custom navigation experience for users.
Control how different visualizations on a report page interact with each other using the Configure Interactions feature
Synchronize the filters across multiple report pages or visuals using Sync Slicers

Create and manage workspaces and assets
The difference between dashboards, reports, datasets and apps
Use row-level security to restrict certain users from seeing some of the data (using DAX)
Schedule refreshes of your data when using import storage mode
Control who has access to your Power BI content using Access Management
Design pipelines with development, test, and production stages to develop and test Power BI content in the Power BI service
